Help Us Save Meagan’s Life

On November 16th, Meagan was in a horrific accident that should’ve taken her life. She hit a trailer house being illegally pulled, and had gotten stuck across both lanes of an unlit country road. No lights. No warnings. No permits. It was called in as a fatality.

But somehow, Meagan survived.

Since that day, she’s fought through:
• 25+ broken bones
• Two collapsed lungs
• Bleeding into her chest cavity
• Three strokes (two brainstem, one cerebellar)
• Left-sided paralysis
• Vision and hearing loss
• More than 60 days in hospitals and rehab centers

And as if that weren’t enough, she was diagnosed with metastatic cystic papillary thyroid cancer… and Moyamoya disease—a rare, progressive brain disorder where the blood vessels in her brain are literally closing off, starving it of oxygen.

But there’s more—something most people still don’t know:

Imaging revealed that Meagan suffered a traumatic vascular injury to her brain and a brain stem stroke in her central PONS during the crash, and it was left untreated, yet was documented in her chart. It combined with her undiagnosed Moyamoya to create a perfect storm. Her major arteries began collapsing. Her brainstem had multiple strokes. She has almost no viable blood flow left in parts of her brain. And it’s getting worse.

Today, her neurosurgeon at St. John in Tulsa—Dr. Yashar Kalani, one of the top vascular neurosurgeons in the country— whose life work revolves around MoyaMoya- looked at her imaging and said:

“This is the worst case of Moyamoya I’ve ever seen.”

Let that sink in. The worst. From THE expert of these neurological conditions.

But even with all of this stacked against her, there is hope.

Dr. Kalani believes there is one last, very rare surgical option—a complex omental cerebral bypass, where they take tissue from Meagan’s stomach (the omentum) and reroute it to her brain to rebuild blood flow and save her life.

Without this surgery, Meagan is going to keep having strokes.
Without it, we will lose her.
This is her last shot. We are racing against time.

The surgery alone requires collaboration between neurosurgery and gastrointestinal surgery as well as oncology—and may have to be done out of state if no qualified gastrointestinal surgeon (only 4 qualified in the united state) can come here. Afterward, Meagan will need to relocate to Texas or Colorado for long-term, intensive neurorehabilitation that doesn’t exist in Oklahoma. Rehab could last 6 to 12 months, and she’ll need ongoing care from neurologists, oncologists, endocrinologists, and more.

Thos surgery would not only save Meagans life, but offers her a possibility of her deficits she has now improving, and being able to live a mostly independent life. But ONLY if she gets both the surgery/surgeries and the intensive neurorehabilitiation.

It also REDUCES HER RISK OF ANOTHER STROKE BY AS MUCH AS 90 PERCENT IF SUCCESSFUL!

She hasn’t been able to work since the wreck.
Her husband has never left her side.
And we’ve done everything we can to advocate for her every step of the way—but the financial strain is becoming unbearable.

This fundraiser will help cover:
• Emergency relocation for surgery
• Neurorehab facility costs
• Temporary housing and living expenses while out of state
• Travel and support for her husband and care advocates
• Cancer care, prescriptions, and follow-up
• Recovery essentials, adaptive equipment, and therapies

Meagan is not giving up. Neither are we.
But we can’t do this without help.

If you’ve ever met Meagan, you know she is fierce, loyal, and full of light. She’s always taken care of everyone else. She’s survived more trauma than most people could imagine—and she’s still fighting.

Now she needs her village. She needs her miracle.
And we’re asking, with everything we have, for your help.

Please help us save Meagan’s life.
