Support ME & Long Hauler's recovery impacted by LA wildfire.
Don protégé
My name is Alisa, I am a queer artist and filmmaker of color, disabled with autism, ME & Long Covid impacted by the LA wildfire, seeking emergency aid to cover costs of recovery.
I live within 2 miles from the evacuation zone of the Eaton Canyon fire. I have underlying cardiovascular and respiratory issues, so even though my place is safe, the smoke and toxic air is making me very ill and triggering nasty flare-ups. I am seeking assistance with consideration that priority goes to people who lost their homes.
I've had ME/CFS/fibromyalgia since 2018 and have been struggling with Long Covid on top of my chronic illnesses since last summer. I’ve been mostly housebound and have not been able to work since Oct of 2024. I am currently under the care of UCLA's Long Covid Clinic. I also have spinal lesions that are potentially the cause of temporary paralysis, limb weakness, and pain. I am in the process of ruling out MS. Other scheduled procedures include testing for cardiovascular & neurodegenerative diseases, POTS, autoimmune issues, etc. I am already overwhelmed by the medical costs and financial insecurities. Now I am also afraid of the long-term consequences of poor air quality on high-risk individuals like myself. Funds will go towards an air purifier, groceries/food delivery, Uber/Lyft rides to doctor's appointments, out-of-pocket medical expenses, and lodging to escape toxic air.
Thank you so much for your consideration and care!
With gratitude,
Alisa
