Help Penka for purchasing a cello

Donation protected
Hello everyone, :)

Playing the cello has been having a crucial role in my life since the age of 6 years old. It has always been my dream to become a professional cellist. I am currently studying at Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London) as a master's degree student at the cello class of Prof. Stefan Popov.

I am reaching out to you to ask for your kind help in raising the funds to purchase a 2012 Bulgarian Goffriller cello made by the luthier Apostol Kaloferov. I am very grateful to him, because he gave me the amazing opportunity to use his cello for free renting since 2013 during my studies but we also had an agreement for purchasing the instrument on a half price with the help of sponsors in instalments by January 2020. Thanks to the generosity of trusts Drake Calleja and Wolfson, I have so far fundraised 2/3rds of the funds, however with the deadline quickly approaching, I need your help to reach the final balance.

Finding the right instrument is like finding a life partner. After I have played on this instrument for five years, I have decided that I really would like to purchase it because I like it very much and it has a great and beautiful quality of sound which contributes significantly to my performances.

My family is not able to fund me - I have only one parent, my mother unfortunately is retired because of illness; my father had been passed away in car accident when I was only three years old. I have been supported very generously by Guildhall School Trust, Munster Trust and Help Musicians UK through the years with scholarships towards my tuition fees and I am teaching part-time in order to cover my living expenses in London. Due to these restrictions I have decided to create a crowd fundraiser in order purchasing completely this beautiful instrument.

Therefore I thank everyone who would be generous and kind enough to help make this dream of mine come true (even if it's the smallest help). Every small gesture is welcome and precious.

I know it's a lot to ask so: a big thank you in advance!

Love,
Penka x
