Support me as I finish my breast cancer treatment!

My name is Jade. I'm a 28-year-old Jacksonville, Florida native. On May 1st, 2023, I received my breast cancer diagnosis. Since then, I've completed many steps in my cancer treatment, and have seen a lot of progress. This past month I had surgery and am grateful to say my tumor was removed with clear margins. But, I still have a few more steps to take in this process. I wanted to create this page to ask for help in addressing the medical bills associated with my treatment. Below you can read more about my journey.

After my initial diagnosis in May 2023, I met with an oncologist who developed my treatment plan. I was diagnosed with a stage 2 malignant ductal carcinoma. My breast cancer was found to be estrogen- and progesterone-receptor positive, HER2 negative. My oncologist recommended neoadjuvant chemotherapy, which would involve treating the tumor with chemo before having it surgically removed. I learned that the chemo drugs I was recommended could significantly hinder my chances of producing healthy, viable eggs in the future. Knowing this, I decided to undergo an egg-harvesting treatment prior to starting chemo.

I had my first chemo on Friday, July 14th. My course of chemotherapy included four rounds of Adriamycin and Cytoxan, administered every other week for eight weeks, followed by 12 rounds of Taxol, administered every week for 12 weeks. Over the course of my treatment I shared many laughs with the staff at Spencer Cancer Center, for whom I am very grateful. I finished my last round on December 1st, 2023 and learned that my tumor had a great response to the treatment.

After finishing chemo, I underwent surgery on January 11th to have my tumor removed. Afterwards, I received some good news: My tumor was removed with clear margins - hooray! However, I also learned that the lymph node dissection performed at the time of my surgery revealed the presence of cancer in my lymph nodes, which had not been previously detected.

Now, I'm facing a second surgery before I can proceed with radiation treatment, which will last about six weeks. I'm thinking it'll be nothing compared to five months of chemo, right? I'm extremely thankful to have gotten this far in my treatment, to have been met with relatively favorable outcomes throughout, and to be surrounded with so much love, care, support and prayer from my friends and family. If you are able, please consider supporting me as I near the end of my cancer treatment this spring!

Love,
Jade
