Help Our Family Rebuild After a Devastating Fire
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,
Our family has suffered an unimaginable tragedy. A devastating fire destroyed our grandparents' homes located in Germantown at 517 and 519 E. Brinton Street, a place that has been in our family for 66 years—and took the lives of our beloved Uncle Mark and his long-time girlfriend, Maria.
This home wasn’t just a house; it was the heart of our family. It was where our grandparents, who raised 12 children, built their lives and created a place filled with love, celebrations, and cherished memories. Over the decades, nearly every family member has lived here at some point. This home witnessed multiple generations, countless birthdays, weddings, and milestones that made us who we are.
Now, this 125-year-old home is set to be demolished due to structural damage, and we are left not only grieving but also struggling to rebuild what was lost.
We are asking for help to:
• Provide a proper burial for our Father/Brother/Uncle Mark, who tragically passed in the fire.
• Support our Mother/Sister/Aunt Marsha and her husband Jamar, who lived on the other side of the twin home and now need to relocate and rebuild their lives.
Both sides of this home belonged to our family. One side was home to Uncle Mark and Uncle Carl, and the other was where Aunt Marsha and her husband, Jamar, still lived. Our Aunt Cheryl, who passed away just months ago, also lived there. These homes were everything to us—it was our family’s foundation.
The loss is overwhelming, but we know that with the kindness and generosity of others, we can begin to pick up the pieces. Any donation, big or small, will help us give Uncle Mark the farewell he deserves and support Aunt Marsha as she navigates this devastating loss.
Please share, donate, and keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
With love and gratitude,
The McKie Family
