Hi everyone! A lot of people have been asking ways to help. I have been hesitant to create a GoFundMe because asking for help is not easy, but here it goes! If you know anything about me or my daughter, McKayden, you know we love animals. They are amazing in all ways and now another one has come into our lives that is going to make a huge impact. Everyone, meet Togo. Togo is currently in training to be a service dog for McKayden. McKayden has had multiple surgeries, hospitalizations and one thing after another with her health. Within the last 2 years, she was hospitalized three times with Endocarditis and Sepsis as well as her second open heart surgery which had multiple complications that she has been dealing with. She has brain hemorrhages, neurological problems, continued heart problems with blood pressure and heart rate issues, Ehlers-Danlos and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) to name a few that have left her unable to work. Her days consist of doctor appointments, physical therapy, neurological rehab. Her doctors have felt a service dog would help her to reach some of her goals, with a main one in becoming more independent in her life. Having a Medical and Mobility Service Dog will help guide her when needing to get to a safe place when having an episode where she loses her balance, or her blood pressure drops and she is weak , passing out, walking and item retrievals such as water, medication and her keys. Togo will also be able to help her have more confidence in public, exercise, stability on uneven surfaces, tasks around the house, and her goal of being able to work and become self sufficient. Togo is currently living with his trainer where McKayden meets with him weekly for training. Although she has been lucky to have a wonderful organization she is working with, having and training a service dog is very expensive. There is no pressure to donate but thank you for reading this story about my best friend who constantly amazes me with her strength and resilience in all she has went through.
