Support Mazie Mae's Healing Journey

Hi my name is Beth Orr and this sweet girl pictured is my dog Mazie Mae, she’s 4 years old and such a good girl. Yesterday ..Thursday was just a normal day like most here at home, Mazie Mae has a furry brother Little Boy and 2 sisters Abbey and Sassy. All four get along perfectly and like most dogs enjoy playing and napping most days, and that’s just what went on here yesterday. Very early this morning,I felt Mazie Mae get up and go down the steps to the floor, next thing I heard was her throwing up. I got up and went to her, she looked terrible and had thrown up most of her dinner. I picked her up and I noticed her abdomen felt bloated and hard, I wiped her mouth and put a towel on the bed that I put her on. I noticed her nose looked and felt very dry, so I got the dogs thermometer and took her temperature which was 103. First thing this morning at 8:00 am I called the vets office explained the situation and was told to be there by 9:15 am. Once seeing the doctor, Mazie Mae showed signs of pain when he push on her abdomen, he had a X-ray done and I was then told it looked like she had a mass in her abdomen and needed surgery immediately. By 1:30 pm my baby girl was having the surgery ….within an hour one of the techs came out to me and told me the doctor wanted me to know that it was not a mass, but that Mazie Mae had swallowed one of her toys. Once she was in recovery the doctor came and talked to me saying as small as she is, she should have choked to death on the size toy she had swallowed…I told him I’m with my dog 24/7 and at NO TIME did I hear her coughing or choking. Had only heard her throwing up ..but not choking at that time either. The vet said she will need to stay at the animal hospital for at least 2 days because of the abdominal incision and when discharged will be wearing a belly band for 2 weeks or more. Upon leaving of course I had to pay for what treatment she had so far, that amount was $857.00… I usually keep $1000.00 put away just for the dogs and their shots, sickness or emergencies. Unfortunately early in August it was annual shots and rabies shots for 3 of my 4 …plus their Heartguard was purchased too. That event cost me $787.00 with the meds, needless to say I haven’t been able to build that fund back up for them yet. Not paying wasn’t an option so I use the money left in the medical fund for the dogs and then had to use the money for my car payment at the beginning of September. So here I am setting up this Go Fund Me for Miss Mazie’s medical expenses, I will still be charged too for the days she will be there recovering. The goal is $1000.00 is donations for my sweet baby girl and to help me recover my car payment in time.
