Support Mayleen Fajardo Zabala's Engineering Dream
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Mayleen Fajardo Zabala, and I am a proud Venezuelan immigrant living in the United States under TPS (Temporary Protected Status). I came to this country when I was just 11 years old, not speaking the language and with no clear roadmap — but through hard work, determination, and resilience, I adapted and made a new life here.
Today, I am about to graduate high school on May 30th as part of the top 10% of my class. I have earned a 3.7 unweighted GPA and a 4.7 weighted GPA, scored 1250 on the SAT, completed 3 AP classes, 5 dual enrollment classes at FIU and Broward College, and even participated for one year in the Broward College Aviation Maintenance Program while still in high school.
I’ve been involved in 7 clubs, serving as President of the Spanish National Honor Society and as a proud member of the Science National Honor Society.
Despite all my efforts, I recently found out that Florida International University (FIU) does not offer me any financial aid, scholarships, or even in-state tuition benefits because of my immigration status.
Coming from a low-income household, my family cannot afford the overwhelming cost of tuition. We are hardworking, but the truth is, we are struggling just to meet our daily needs.
I am pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering because I dream of contributing to space exploration and working for organizations like NASA. I believe in using my skills to push humanity forward, and I have spent years preparing academically for this opportunity.
Now, I am asking for help.
Any donation, big or small, would go directly toward covering my tuition, books, and living expenses as I work toward achieving my dream.
Your support isn’t just helping me — it's investing in the future of someone who refuses to give up, no matter the odds.
Thank you for believing in me.
Even if you can't donate, sharing my story means the world.
