Hi family and friends,
Many of you have been following Mayla’s journey, and we wanted to share an update. Mayla has been courageously battling Rhabdomyosarcoma for the past 5 years. In 2021, at just 13 years old, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She fought incredibly hard and went into remission in 2023. In 2024, at 16, she relapsed—but once again, she beat it and entered remission in 2025.
Now in 2026, at 18 years old and just two months away from graduating high school, Mayla is facing this battle for the third time. On April 15, 2026, she was diagnosed again with stage 4 cancer, as it has spread to multiple areas in a short period of time.
Her treatment plan is aggressive. Doctors are recommending chemotherapy and radiation at the same time. Radiation will take place Monday through Friday at UC Davis in Sacramento for 4–6 weeks, followed by chemotherapy three times a month. After that, she will continue chemo for the duration of her treatment plan, and then with another 4–6 weeks of radiation to complete treatment .
We are asking for any support you can give to help with travel to treatments and medical expenses not covered by insurance. The frequent trips and ongoing care are going to be a hardship on our family and any amount truly helps more than words can express.
We are so grateful for the love, prayers, and support from our village. Thank you for standing with Mayla and our family during this incredibly difficult time.
