Support B.J. (Mayim) after job loss and surgeries

I was recently laid off from my dream job because of federal funding cuts. I'd worked very hard, including getting two graduate degrees, to get where I was.

My job was locally-funded but someone with more seniority whose job was federally funded was able to 'bump' me because we shared the same general job classification [although the person who bumped me didn't have the same specialized experience or degrees].

After having surgery [and the related medical bills] in both 2023 and 2024 [with a final surgery in the series tentatively scheduled for January 2026, plus assorted other chronic conditions (ADHD, fibromyalgia)], my finances were already tight before I got the lay-off notice.

I'm frantically job-hunting but it's not a good time for those of us in 'cultural' fields that depend on money out of D.C. My experience in other fields is now all over 10 years old, so the applications I've sent out in those other fields are doing even less well than those for my current field.

The amount I'm trying to raise will pay off the last couple medical bills and get my car loan up to date. If there's any left, I'll use it to take Scout, my goofball kitty [pictured at the top with two of the many fosters he's taught to be cats], to the vet, as he has an ear issue that needs to be looked at.

I've added a second picture that amuses me [I'm easily entertained....]. I'm a librarian with a generous side of genealogist, so I spend a fair amount of time reading old newspapers. Second picture is two newspapers articles about a several greats-grandfather of mine ~ whose mill burned, so he organized a GoFundMe in 1801 ;-)
