Support Mayela's Family in Their Time of Need
Donation protected
Mayela Martínez and her family will lose their home in an estimated 1-2 months (July-August 2024). The Nicaraguan government has begun constructing a 4-lane highway known as the Costa Negra to bring more tourism and money into the country. At the expense of the locals of many towns who have been living along the Nicaraguan Pacific Coast for over 80 years, they are losing their home and water sourcing well. The most fortunate of families are receiving a max $4,000 to compensate for the loss. However, they will not receive the money until they are 30 days out of their home being destroyed.
In order for Mayela to avoid experiencing homelessness with her husband and adopted child, along with her daughter and her family, she needs a minimum of $6,000 to fund her new well and build a smaller casita so they can restart. To give you context, they live in a tiny home with 3 beds, a broken roof with holes in their floor, and 1 lightbulb. They do not have much as is, and this highway will dramatically affect their lives. Any donation size is appreciated, and will go miles for Mayela’s family.
Thank you
