Support Maya's Recovery

This is Maya, a 7-month old hound mix who lives in Marlborough, MA with her dog dad and favorite human, Erik. Unfortunately, Maya is in need of costly medical care after an accident that resulted in a broken femur, the largest bone in her body.

Maya was adopted by Erik in April 2022 through Rhode Home Rescue, and they immediately became best friends. Together they enjoy nature walks in the woods, fetch in the yard, and trips to the farmers market for puppy friendly ice cream. While Erik is working from home, Maya entertains herself by sniffing the floor around him, retrieving toys from the basket to bring him, and staring at him until he has a break to play in the yard.

As you can imagine, Maya’s accident yesterday was Erik’s worst nightmare. She had a visit to Veterinary Emergency Group in Shrewsbury, MA last night for evaluation, pain medication, and x-ray. Today she is at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth, MA awaiting surgery on her broken leg.

The medical costs related to Maya’s injury have quickly increased to approximately $9,000. This is more than dog dad Erik is able to afford, and there will be additional costs when it is time for follow up visits. Erik doesn’t normally ask for help, so I’m asking for him. Maya is one of the lucky puppies because she found a loving home with Erik. If you are able to help him give Maya the care she needs, they will be fur-ever grateful to you.
