Support Maya and Soul Flower Farm Recover After Fire
Donation protected
Maya Blow and Soul Flower Farm need your support after a home fire.
On Thursday April 24th a fire erupted inside Maya’s home. Everyone was gathered outside on the farm and was able to evacuate the land safely. Firefighters were able to come in and extinguish the fire but not before much damage was done. Along with fire damage, Maya’s home sustained water and toxic smoke damage. Everything in Maya’s home must now be replaced due to the extended damage and her home is now uninhabitable for the foreseeable future.
Maya and her young adult son are now displaced for a minimum of 6 months.
While displaced, Soul Flower Farm still needs daily care and support to sustain what has been created and tended over the last 15 years. This includes farming just under 3 acres, raising chickens, ducks, bees and bunnies, tending seasonal vegetables, a small diverse orchard, a large variety of medicinal plants, as well as extensive programing that provides permaculture design and herbal training to BIPOC community.
Along with being the place where Maya’s family home resides, Soul Flower Farm is also home to the School of Earth Medicine that offers R.O.O.T.S., a one of a kind Permaculture Design Course (PDC) for BIPOC folks, Devas Daughters, a seasonal, BIPOC herbal apprenticeship, community land based herbalist training and the apothecary business, Star Root Medicine.
Maya Blow is a mother, herbalist, classical homeopath, organic farmer and educator. Maya is the co-founder and director of Soul Flower Farm School of Earth Medicine for Herbal Studies and Permaculture Design and has been stewarding her farm for 15 years.
Your contributions will support Maya and Soul Flower Farm through this challenging time. We would like to support Maya by easing some of the immediate financial stress. Contributions will help with daily living expenses including food, replacing essentials lost due to fire damage, gas costs for daily commute to the farm (she is now driving an hour daily), hiring help to tend to animals and plants at the farm. Contributions will also help current programming at Soul Flower Farm continue.
I have known Maya as a friend and collaborator in community for more than 25 years. She has opened her home and her farm to support countless people wanting to deepen their relationship with land, plants, themselves through hosting & guiding workshops, retreats, volunteer days, apprenticeships, programs along with providing local herbal remedies with Star Root Medicine. Maya gives so generously and shies away from asking for support of any kind. I created this fundraiser as an opportunity to pour into Maya and Soul Flower Farm.
