For more than 31 years, May Martínez has lived with the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Colleen Slemmer, who was murdered at just 19 years old. When Christa Pike’s execution was scheduled for September 30, 2026, May was determined to travel from Florida to Tennessee to be there. After waiting more than three decades for that day, May and her family made the trip, only for the execution to be put on hold shortly before it was set to take place. Now May is carrying not only the emotional weight of yet another delay, but also the financial strain of the trip and the possibility of having to make that journey again.
This fundraiser is for May and her husband, and the funds will go directly to them to help cover travel and lodging expenses related to being in Tennessee. After everything May has endured, finances should be the last thing weighing on her during such a painful and deeply personal time. Please consider donating whatever you can to help ease the burden of May and her husband’s travel expenses. If donating is not possible, please share this fundraiser so more people can reach May with support and remind her that she and Colleen have not been forgotten.
