On Tuesday, August 19th, 2025 beloved May Berry was tragically taken in a heartbreaking accident in Waterloo Iowa. At just 69 years old, May was unloading groceries when her car unexpectedly rolled backward. She fell and was struck by the vehicle before it came to a stop. Despite the quick response of paramedics and Waterloo Fire Rescue, May passed away at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.

May was a loving mother, grandmother, partner and friend. She was also the devoted caregiver for her significant other, showing the same compassion at home that she shared so freely with everyone around her. May never hesitated to help anyone in need and was truly a one of kind of person who loved all without hesitation. Her sudden passing has left a tremendous void in the lives of her family, friends, and community.

A Celebration of Life for May will be held on:

➡️ Reiff Funeral Home, Independence

➡️ 2pm – 5pm

This GoFundMe has been set up to help the family cover expenses related to her service, burial costs and rising bills/as well as to provide support during this very difficult time.
