Max is looking forward to finally having top surgery in early 2026 (yay)!! Mere weeks before their consult, they had an emergent dental visit and were quoted $4,000 for a root canal and a crown (booo).
Max is self-employed, so they do not have insurance to offset these lofty costs. I'm starting this fundraiser to make BOTH medical necessities possible for them, so they can receive the healthcare they need.
If you've known Max for any amount of time, you know that they are passionate about building community, contributing to and facilitating mutual aid, and working towards a better future for all of us. They have inspired me to care with more intention and impact, and I know I am not the only one.
On a personal level, Max is a caring friend, a loving partner, and a brilliant artist. They have worked incredibly hard to build the life they have to be able to do the work they do. They bring devotion, love, passion, knowledge, and a sexy flamboyant silliness to the spaces they inhabit. As their partner I think they deserve the world, but since I can't give them the world, I hope I can give them this support.
I had top surgery in February of 2024 and it changed my life in ways I could not have imagined. Knowing you need something like gender-affirming surgery is one thing. Actually being on the other side of it is another-- it's like I took a deep breath for the first time in my life. The relief is so deep, the embodiment is so live-giving, empowering, and joyful, and I want them to have it too.
"Seeing my closest trans friends who have become my family embodying themselves has allowed me to learn the ways that I feel embodied, and feel more alive," Max explained to me. "Getting this top surgery is allowing that to happen, and that's a huge gift."
I also what them to be able to get the hole in their tooth repaired because holy heck that sh*t hurts!!
With the most love, I hope you consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Please reach out to me directly if you're able to help with further fundraising efforts. I would love to collaborate on something.
And we will keep hoping that over time, this kind of health care will become more accessible, not less. That's how we not only get to save lives, but increase our participation in them. And what a gift that can be.
Trans people make the world a better place!!
Be sweet,
