My name is Brittany and I am lucky enough to be Mom to the strongest, funniest, most compassionate, and intelligent 9-year-old in the world. In October of 2023, Max was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma originating from her tenth rib. We immediately began a tumultuous treatment regimen which consisted of 13 cycles of chemo consisting of 5 aggressive chemo drugs, followed by surgery to remove the tumor along with 3 ribs and 6 weeks of daily radiation. She has been in remission for 18 months until today, 1/22/25, when 2 cancerous nodules near her lung were discovered on a routine CT scan.

At this time, we are unsure if it is local or metastatic as we await the results of a more in-depth scan. Treatment will be starting immediately within the next few weeks as we navigate port placement surgery and a bone marrow biopsy. Then we will begin another aggressive round of chemotherapy and radiation/surgery depending on how things look. Max will be unable to attend school during treatment (although we plan to do e-learning as much as she’s able) and will need essentially full-time care.

In all honesty, the first time my family went through this, it absolutely financially devastated us. While we have insurance, I was unable to work, and we completely drained our lifetime savings. 18 months later, we were just getting back on our feet. My business has just started getting its legs, and I’ve only recently been in the position to start replenishing savings. I am self-employed this time around, but due to the aggressive nature of this treatment, I will only be able to work as treatment allows, and Max will require full-time care.

While the data for Ewing’s relapse are less than favorable, I am all in on this fight and will not accept defeat. We have chosen to take the most intensive treatment path possible to assure the best odds. Your donations will help keep my family afloat during this devastating time.
