Max was spooked on New Year’s Eve while in Brighton and suffered a freak and tragic accident after running into a metal fence. He was in critical condition and had to be transported to an animal hospital by an animal ambulance. After his initial assessment, Max then needed to be rushed by ambulance again to a specialist dog facility in Surrey for further investigations and treatment, including MRIs and CT scans, pain relief, IV fluids, anti-anxiety medication, and dental exam, all whilst remaining under 24-hour watch by a specialist team of surgeons & nurses working together to determine the best steps for Max's recovery.

Scans showed that Max luckily did not break or fracture any bones in his body. However, due to the impact he sustained, he ruptured a disk in his neck, akin to a slipped disc in a human. Thankfully, Max does not require any surgery other than a dental extraction for 5 fractured teeth and is set to make a full recovery after completing a 14-day intensive recovery program focused on rebuilding and strengthening Max with the use of Physiotherapy, kennel rest, pain management and lots of TLC to keep his spirits high.

Max is a wonderful rescue from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home who went on to become an assistance dog for a British Army veteran. In many ways, Max and his human saved each other. Together, they rebuilt their lives and continued their journey by training and caring for other dogs, who in turn became Max’s extended family.

We are now facing medical and recovery costs of £12,000+ that insurance will not cover. We truly wouldn’t ask unless I needed help, but if you’re able to contribute even a small amount or share the link, it would mean the world to me and Max. There is of course absolutely no obligation.

Thank you so much for your compassion, kindness, and support during such a painful and heartbreaking time
