Our son Maxamillian who is 31 years old, was evaluated in July 2025 and for a Combined Heart and Liver Transplant. On August 27th,  he was officially listed for a Heart, while the liver team declined to list at that time. Due to diligent monitoring, and follow up , Maxamillian is now listed for both organs and will now be able to receive the full Combined Heart & Liver Transplant.

We are now in prayer for the right Heart and Liver at the right time. ❤️

As we have been walking this road, we have continued to be blessed by so many people, many we know, others we have never met!  As this process continues, we continue to ask for your  support for the non-medical expenses that go along with this life-saving procedure. Mostly housing costs for pre-transplant evaluations/testing  and visits before the surgery and then later for the significant housing costs we will have for the 4 months following the transplant since we live 4 1/2 hours from the Transplant Center (UPMC Presbyterian) in Pittsburgh, PA.
After a year of raising funds we now have a more realistic understanding of  the ongoing costs and have determined  that we need to raise our overall goal to  $30,000. This increase is due to additional costs associated with continued wait time , additional visits and unexpected hospitalization, as well as additional loss of income for April  , due to extra time away from work. We will keep everyone updated as we walk with Maxamillian through this journey to a new life. ❤️

Maxamillian’s story:

Maxamillian was born with a complex congenital heart defect which includes a single left ventricle. Over the years, he has had to have multiple open-heart surgeries at Penn State Hershey Medical Center (including a Fontan procedure that required two open-heart procedures to complete), multiple pacemakers, and an internal defibrillator.

The Fontan procedure that saved Maxamillian’s life was not meant to last a lifetime, and as a side effect, it has caused severe liver disease. since August of 2025 Maxamillian has been listed for a new heart. As of February, 2026, Max was officially listed for a liver and will now receive a Combined Heart and Liver Transplant, as was originally thought.

Maxamillian’s hope is not only to live but to live with purpose. He is hoping after recovery to gain the needed education/training to become a Medical Clergy, with the desire to serve at Hershey Medical Center, offering hope and support to patients and families from the perspective of someone who has been a lifelong patient.

We are so thankful for Maxamillian and hope to have many more years with him, where we can watch him live out the purpose God has for him. We ask you for whatever financial help you feel led to give and most earnestly for your prayers as we walk through this season of our lives.
