Max Osburn is an outgoing young man who loves life, the outdoors, and has a strong faith. Recently, while fishing at Waverly Boat Ramp, Max was the victim of a senseless act of violence. As he went to retrieve his truck, he was confronted by an individual who shot him three times—twice in the chest and once in the face. Max was airlifted to Tupelo, MS, where he underwent emergency surgery and had his spleen removed. He was then transferred to Memphis for further treatment, as a bullet remains lodged in his neck. Doctors have also discovered bone fragments in his T11 vertebrae, and they are working to reduce swelling to assess the full extent of the damage to his spine.
We now know that Max is paralyzed from the waist down. He is alert and remembers everything that happened at the boat ramp that day. He knows he is paralyzed and it’s going to take time come to terms with everything that has happened to him but his sense of humor is still there. He is still Max.
Max’s journey to recovery will be long and uncertain. He is an amazing young man who doesn’t deserve any of this. His mother has been by his side every step of the way, but the costs are mounting. Between medical bills, daily expenses, food, gas, and the need for his mother to travel and miss work, the financial burden is overwhelming. Max also has his own bills and responsibilities, and the outcome of his injuries is still unknown.
We are reaching out to ask for your support—whether through a donation or a prayer. Every bit of help means the world to Max and his family as they face this unimaginable challenge. Thank you for standing with them in this difficult time.
