Raising funds for Seven Hills New Hampshire, to support Max and the other kids they serve there.
Story:
I have gone back and forth for a while on if I want to share this part of our lives publicly. In the end, I have decided to share because it is not an experience a lot of people have or even know anyone who has gone through it. Also, I do feel like there is a great deal of judgement around families who have to make this decision. Almost two weeks ago, we took Max to an out of state residential facility. Over the past year, Max’s self-injury, size, and intense level of care has made it impossible for me to meet his needs and keep him safe. When I finally worked up the courage to admit that I did not think I could provide the level of care Max needed, I was shocked to find that everyone agreed, my family, the school district, and the state workers who had been assigned to help Max. They were all waiting for me to be ready. So, we began our search and advocated for Max. We found a wonderful place that has everything Max needs, but most importantly they LOVE the kids they work with. I have included pictures of Max’s new home on “the mountain” as they call it below. It is absolutely beautiful. It is a 145 acre campus that includes homes, a school, a farm, a lake with a beach, a playground, a recreation center, a swimming pool, and hiking trails, all to support kids like Max. Max is thriving there. Mom is struggling back home, but I said from the beginning, I was going to do what is best for Max, not what is best for me. I will periodically share updates about my sweet boy and the amazing things he is going to do, so all of my facebook friends can say they know a family who experienced this. I want to increase awareness of level 3 autism, when it is not a “superpower”, when it is very harmful to families, and when we do spend everyday praying for a breakthrough in Autism research.
I am including a go fund me link below. All proceeds will go to Seven Hills New Hampshire to use as they see fit to continue helping these families.
