Support Max: A Car for Community Care
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Max Menard ((They, Them), Genderqueer), I work as a community services caseworker for a disability based NGO in the Pittsburgh area. I own a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria (affectionately named vicky) that I bought with $3,600 of my own money back in July of this year. I grew fond of Vicky as she was one of the most reliable, roomiest, and safest cars I've ever had the chance of owning. I was very recently involved in a total loss accident with another vehicle with vicky while driving on my shift in the rain. My job requires me to have a vehicle to work and serve the people I support on a daily basis. Unfortunately, my organization, family, and several friends could not support me in finding a new vehicle. My record only affords me liability coverage at the moment and the repair cost for my vehicle is currently estimated to be $4,000, which, unfortunately, is more than half of what I have at the moment and is double what my vehicle is worth. As a single working class queer person who has very little in savings and is struggling to pay bills as well as living independently, I am devasted by the loss of my vehicle and terrified of losing my livelihood, my Job, my ability to help others, as well as my ability to survive in a heavily car dependent city such as Pittsburgh. I am asking the queer community and the working class as a whole to help support me in supporting my people, my community, and myself financially. I am always the friend who gives rides and this time, I could use another one.
Thank you for your support in advance, it truly means the world to me, $4,000 of this ask will go to a new car itself and $300 of this ask will go towards tag, title, and registering the new car.
