Please please please stop what you are doing and pray for Maverick.

My life long best friend and her family are dealing with some major medical issues right now with their son Maverick. He is 5 years old and has been diagnosed with 2 congenital heart defects, that weren’t caught until now. He has Coarctation of the Aorta and bicuspid aortic valve. His aorta is completely blocked and he is getting very little blood flow to his body along with very high blood pressure, so he is having heart surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital next week to remove the blocked portion of his aorta along with the collateral blood vessels throughout his chest that his body has made to try to bypass the blockage. He will have to have lifelong follow up with a cardiologist, will more than likely have high blood pressure for the rest of his life, and also will likely need more surgeries in the future. He will be at Cincinnati Children’s for around a week as long as all goes well with the surgery, and then will need to recover at home for 6-8 weeks. Then we will have to go back to Cincinnati at some point for a post surgery follow up.
