Meet Maverick! Maverick is my 20-month-old grandson who has just been diagnosed with a rare disorder called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) and would love your prayers and support!
A little fast-paced back story... What started out as a limp believed to be from a short fall on the playground continued into what would be two trips to the ER with no answers, then a ride to CHOA for help when Maverick stopped walking completely and regressed to crawling all in a short period of three weeks. That's where they found a mass on his left femur.
Maverick then had a five-day stay at CHOA with multiple scans, blood workups, and finally a biopsy of the mass with suspicions but no definitive answers. Mom and Dad were both by his side while having to be out of work and away from their 3-year-old older son. They got to go home to begin the dreadful waiting period for test results and were told to be back in a week for diagnosis and treatment plan.
They returned to CHOA the following Monday (this past week) to find out that he has LCH and that he will need to start chemo. By this time, Maverick's pain and discomfort had gotten worse, so they admitted him for pain control and to get more images of his leg as his left femur bone has erosion and is at higher risk of fracturing or breaking. They then ordered another MRI that showed the progression of the eroding bone, so they decided that it would be best for Maverick to have a brace on his leg. They then scheduled the placement of the chemo port, and while Maverick was in that procedure, they went ahead and placed the fixed brace on his left leg for prevention and protection. They then started his first round of chemo the next day. While Maverick is in good spirits currently, his care is that of an infant again.
My son and daughter-in-love and both grandboys have a long road ahead full of uncertainty and fear, but we have faith and know what GOD can do! The money/funds raised will help the family with the overwhelming medical costs, daily expenses, trips to CHOA, the challenge that comes with the uncertainty of their work situation and ensure that Maverick has the best care that will allow Dad and Mom to focus on Maverick and brother Xavier!
Please consider donating or sharing this page to help us support his fight. If all you are able to do is pray... there is power in prayer and it is the most important support you can give!!!
