My name is Maureen, and I never imagined I would be in this position. On 2/26/26, I began chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The side effects from just the first treatment have been overwhelming, making it impossible for me to continue working a full-time office job. To make matters even more difficult, I lost my job on 2/20/26—just days before my treatment began. My boss said it was 'not a good fit,' even though he knew what I was facing.

Now, I am looking at five more treatments ahead, and honestly, I have no idea how I will be able to handle it all based on just the first one. The uncertainty is daunting, and I am doing my best to stay strong for myself and my boys. The financial strain of covering living expenses and bills while focusing on my health is more than I can manage alone.
