Support Maureen & Family After Aneurysm

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kylie and I am raising money to help support my dear friend Maureen and her family through her recovery period after she had an aneurysm.

Maureen is one of the strongest Mamas I know who is thankless in giving her support to others, and right now she needs a village!

The last few years have been rough, with difficult births with her 2 children and her youngest (2 years old) having a lot of complications from birth that triggered a genetics screening. Jarrod was diagnosed with Loeys-Dietz Syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder that affects joints, sight, heart and has a high chance of aneurysms. Having this knowledge likely saved her life. Jarrod is this families angel

On Thursday 26th of June 2025, Maureen presented to hospital due to feeling funny in her head. She was admitted to the PA and had emergency brain surgery due to a blood clot/aneurysm.

On the 29th she came out of an induced coma and was responding by squeezing the doctors hand and wriggling her toes.

On the 30th her brother spoke to the hospital and said “She was more awake and doing well remembering stuff. She's still got a decent way to go but she isn’t going backwards. I talked to her for a few minutes and she was able to hold a bit of a conversation. She also told nurses about her kids and their age, and could accurately say which hospital she was in”

1st of July Maureen’s sister updated our HM Mums Club group chat to tell us “Maureen is quite slow in her movements, and is only saying a few words at a time.
The nurse had to help her pat the therapy dog that visited her.
But she recognises her loved ones. And cracked a one word joke at our friend.”

Jasmine updated us on Thursday the 3rd of July to let us know that their older brother visited Maureen and she was all smiles and being moved out of ICU when a bed was available!!! That afternoon she left ICU and went to a ward. When I tell ya I knew this Mama would fight to be back home with her family, I knew she’d prove me right!

At 8:52pm that night, our HMMC group chat got a message from Maureen “I'm up for visitors anything
Just not diptt chatty or seeing clearly”. This Mama has impeccable grammar in her messages normally, but I’m not going to edit it sorry not sorry Maureen!

Right now the road ahead is uncertain, and on top of this brain surgery Maureen was/is still on a waitlist for heart surgery that needs to be treated, another symptom of Loeys-Dietz Syndrome.

Maureen and her family already had a lot of appointments due to Jarrod’s recent diagnosis of LDS, Maureen’s clinical diagnosis and her daughter Holly also starting the genetics process. The appointments are only going to increase now, and Maureen may not be able to drive for quite sometime. Matt (husband) has just started a new full time role which is vital to their livelihood so support is needed so that he can continue to provide for the family.

So I am raising funds (with the permission of Maureen’s husband Matt and her sister Jasmine) to help with this next chaotic season they are going through. Funds will go towards transport to appointments, parking at the hospital, any rehabilitation supplies/modifications needed, appointments with specialists, care support and much more.

Maureen has the biggest heart, always there for advice, passing on items to people in local buy nothing pages, giving beautiful gifts to friends and family and being an advocate for her entire family and the LDS community. If ever I’ve met a person that truly deserves all the support in the world, this is her..
