On the evening of June 11th, 2024, Matt was riding on his motorcycle heading to his son’s first football practice of the season. While driving down Dupont Road during rush hour, a SUV pulled out across multiple lanes of traffic and hit Matt head on. From eyewitness details, Matt was thrown up in the air 10-15 ft landing on the opposite side of the road. His bike was split in 2, and the front of the SUV was crushed inward from the impact of Matt’s body.
Matt’s wife, Ashley, and their 3 children had received the devastating call informing them that he had been in a serious bike accident and was being transported to the hospital in a life-threatening condition. Unable to see Matt, they waited countless hours in the ER waiting area and received minimal amounts of information from doctors. Nearly 2 hours later, Ashley and Matt’s parents were finally able to see him.
Nothing could prepare them to witness the horrendous damage that Matt’s body sustained. Matt suffered from a crushed Tibia, Fibula, and eye socket. He had multi-fractures to the nose, a severe concussion and brain hemorrhaging, which resulted in a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He was also suffering from multiple lacerations, muscle, and ligament detachments. Matt’s recovery is going to be severely intense and extensive. He has already received multiple reconstructive surgeries, scans, and painful physical therapy. He is expected to receive additional surgeries in the future. Because of the intense injury to his leg, his doctors feared he may need an amputation. Matt is now suffering from PTSD, due to the accident, and needs more in-depth support from his medical team and family. As a result, Matt is unable to provide financial support to his family.
Recently, Matt made a change in his career. His brief time in the new position is not long enough for him to qualify and receive certain benefits. As a result, Matt is unable to receive the needed compensation while in recovery. Ashley has had to reduce her hours at work to provide care and support for Matt and their children. Consequently, causing their financial stability to take an even deeper plunge. Nothing can prepare you for the sudden changes required when you face severe injuries and the long-term effects it can create. Matt and Ashley need our love and support to lessen the burden of day-to-day costs for the family and the medical expenses they are accruing. In the Bible, Matthew 11:28 reads, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” The Lord calls us to seek him in our times of need. It is now time for us, as friends and family, to lift the heaviness of financial loss for Matt, Ashley, and their 3 children.
Your support and love is reciprocated with unconditional gratitude and appreciation.
