September of 2021 started a long journey for us. Matt had COVID and was in the hospital for 30 days. It is only by the grace of God that he is still with us today. Unfortunately, we now deal with long-term COVID and all the health issues that come with it. Ever since getting out of the hospital, he has been on high-flow oxygen and has had limited mobility to walk. Over time, his ability to walk has continued to decline, and he is now in a wheelchair full-time.

Currently, I have been lifting his chair in and out of our car. Just going out for the day can mean I am lifting it up to 6 times. The chair weighs 70 lbs. Because of this, I have actually caused issues with my right arm. My personal doctor has told me that we need to find a different solution before I really do damage to my arm. We were looking at getting a wheelchair van, but unfortunately, due to the high price and to be able to get it in a payment range we can afford, we need a large down payment. With all of his other medical expenses, we just don't have the extra funds.

We are fundraising to get a wheelchair van to help with Matt's mobility and to prevent further injury to my arm. Matt, who is now in a wheelchair full-time, needs this van to improve his quality of life and ease our daily struggles.

May/12. Been a rough week for Matt. He has had a lot pain last week which makes transfers from the chair to car even harder. Needless to say we didn't go anywhere. He has a doctors appointment on Tuesday.
