Dear friends, family, and the #TeamMatt community,

As many of you know, Matt has faced an unimaginable journey since his emergency hospitalization on November 22, 2024. After contracting a histoplasma fungus stirred up by Hurricane Helene in September, he was diagnosed with fungal meningitis. Matt spent three days in our local ICU before being airlifted to The Medical University of South Carolina, where he endured five months in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit. On April 21, he was transferred to Shepherd Catastrophic Care Hospital, and we are thrilled to share that he will be released to go home soon.

Over the past eight months, Matt has gone through severe health challenges; his heart stopped four times, and he lost the ability to move, relying on a PEG tube for nutrition and a ventilator for breathing for nearly six months. Through God’s miraculous hand and Matt’s determination and faith, he has relearned how to breathe, eat, speak, and regain movement in his arms and hands. As Matt recently expressed, "I literally get a new life at age 31." We are incredibly grateful for the miracles God has worked in his life, and we believe that his journey toward full health and mobility is ongoing.

Today, we reach out to you on behalf of Matt as he continues his challenging journey toward recovery. With mounting expenses from past and ongoing medical care, therapy, and daily living costs, we invite you to support Matt’s recovery with a monetary contribution as you feel led.
