My name is Emily, and this is my brother Matt. Last week in South Salt Lake, as he was riding his bicycle, he was struck in a hit-and-run and left abandoned—only a passerby’s call to 911 saved him. He now lies in the ICU with a catastrophic brain injury, spinal trauma, fractured pelvis, skull, and more. Because of these actions, he couldn’t say goodbye to our father at his funeral two days after the accident. Matt is still fighting. We are fighting with him. And now, we need your help.
Matt suffered catastrophic injuries including:
•	An extensive brain bleed and Diffuse Axonal Injury (a severe form of TBI)
•	Extensive ligament damage in his cervical spine requiring neck fusion
•	Skull fracture and C2 vertebra fracture
•	Four pelvic fractures
•	Fractures to his sternum, right shoulder blade, and nose
• Irreparable ligament tears in his upper neck
• Diaphragm rupture and liver displacement into the chest cavity
He remains on a ventilator in the Shock Trauma ICU.

Heroes Who Saved His Life
We want to thank the South Salt Lake Police Department for their tireless work in pursuing leads to hold the driver accountable, as well as the South Salt Lake Fire Department, the Emergency Department, and the Shock Trauma Intensive Care Unit at IMC — whose immediate care and dedication are the reason Matt is still with us.

How You Can Help
Matt faces a long and uncertain recovery. The road ahead will involve surgeries, rehabilitation, and extensive ongoing medical care. We are asking for your support — financial, emotional, and spiritual — as Matt begins this fight for his life and healing.
Every donation goes directly toward covering his medical costs, rehabilitation, and supporting him in this long journey. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this page to help us reach as many people as possible.

Matt was left for dead, but he is fighting to live. With your help, we can make sure he has every chance at recovery.
