Support Mattie's College Dream After Loss

On March 29, 2025, Heaven gained a sweet angel but Mattie lost her Mom, Jodi Sharp. At the tender age of 17 years old, Mattie has to navigate the remainder of her Senior year in high school and start her college career without the support of her biggest cheerleader. These should be some of the most exciting times in Mattie’s life. She’s finishing high school and is set to be a collegiate athlete. She’s worked her whole life to play college softball and is excited to start at Central Methodist University in Missouri. Jodi was incredibly proud of Mattie and celebrated all of her wins, helped her recover from injuries and motivated her to succeed. Jodi deeply loved Mattie and her son, Zach. Thankfully, they all got to be together in Italy last summer to celebrate the gorgeous wedding of Zach and Emily. It was truly a highlight of Jodi’s life and you could feel the love emanating from her soul.

Jodi loved her brother, Aaron, and they had such great memories of childhood but both of them felt a tremendous loss when their sweet Mom died from breast cancer almost 20 years ago. We know that Brenda was waiting for Jodi with open arms in Heaven and that reunion was undoubtedly filled with love and tears. Mattie has dealt with a lot of loss but thankfully she has her wonderful Uncles (Aaron and my brother Alex) who have helped guide her throughout her life. We are all incredibly grateful for Mattie’s best friend, Tori, and her wonderful parents, Kim and Joe Shearer, for providing a stable and loving home life while Mattie finishes high school. We know Jodi feels that Mattie will thrive in their home. They are friends who have become family and their offer to take Mattie was instant and sincere.

Mattie has concerns that no high school Senior should have so let’s take away some of the worries by donating to a college fund for her. Her Uncles - Aaron and Alex - will be managing the money and will distribute to Mattie as needed. They, of course, have Mattie’s future and best interest at heart.
