Support Matthew’s Recovery After Ski Accident

Donation protected
Matthew was skiing on Sunday, December 14th, when he came to a trail merge and was hit from behind. As the downhill skier, he suffered serious injuries, including six broken ribs, a saddle pulmonary embolism, deep vein thromboses, and a pneumothorax. At first, Matthew was unaware of the extent of his injuries, but a day later, he ended up in the ER. There, he received a chest tube, was started on a heparin drip, and was life-flighted from Meeker ER to St. Mary’s ER in Grand Junction for urgent care. He is currently in the ICU, with hopes of moving to a medsurge floor soon. As part of his recovery, Matthew will require blood thinners for a minimum of three months, but more likely six to twelve months, and will most likely need to use oxygen for a few weeks.

The road to recovery will be long and challenging for Matthew. The funds raised will help cover his mounting medical expenses, the income lost from missed work, travel costs for treatment, and the many follow-up appointments he will need. Every contribution will help ease the financial burden and allow Matthew to focus on healing.

Matthew is a valued member of this community who volunteers his time and gives back in countless ways. He is involved with many organizations around town and is truly one of the kindest people you will meet. Your support, encouragement, and generosity will mean the world to Matthew and everyone who cares about him. Thank you for considering a donation to help him through this difficult time.
