On Sunday evening around 5:30 PM, our lives changed forever. My brother, Matthew McDowell, was taken from us in a tragic homicide in downtown Los Angeles. His life taken for no reason. Our family is shattered, grieving the sudden loss of someone we loved deeply.

Matthew was a gentle soul with a big heart. He cared about people, loved his family, and always found a way to make others smile. He deserved safety, time, and a full life, and it breaks us that it was stolen from him.

Because his passing was so sudden, our family was completely unprepared for the financial burden. Burial costs in Los Angeles are extremely high, ranging from $14,000 to $21,000, and we are unable to cover these expenses on our own. We want to give Matthew the dignity, respect, and peaceful resting place he deserves.
