Support Matthew Gonzalez's Brain Injury Recovery

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Victoria and I am mom to an amazing 18-year-old boy named Matthew Gonzalez. Matthew is a senior at Crowley High School in Texas. Matthew had plans to graduate with the class of 2025. On Friday, October 18, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm, Matthew was involved in a tragic hit-and-run accident. Matthew’s vehicle was struck at the intersection of McCart Avenue & Altamesa Blvd in Ft. Worth, TX. The other driver who struck Matthew’s vehicle is the at-fault driver and fled the scene, leaving my son to die in his burning vehicle. Innocent bystanders risked their lives to pull my son to a safe median passage. The ambulance, police authorities, and fire department arrived at the scene and rushed my son to Harris Methodist of Ft. Worth Trauma hospital. Matthew received urgent prompt medical attention, and it was discovered that Matthew had a small frontal lobe brain bleed and was admitted to the ICU. Unfortunately, Matthew didn’t have medical insurance, and his hospital stay was limited. This has caused Matthew to be released with the brain bleed and his personality, mood, and behavior being altered in a negative manner. Matthew will be needing neurology specialist follow-ups, brain scans, and therapy care so that he can recover and return to normal without any complications. This process of healing can take days, weeks, months, or years, and there is no exact date to specify when he will return to his old self. It’s beyond devastating seeing your child go from a healthy, happy, and outgoing person to see him struggling with his speech, thoughts, memories, and self-care. Matthew’s healing process will require 24-hour care and supervision. Matthew’s plans to return to school and graduate are all postponed until further notice and medical clearance. During this difficult period, I kindly ask if you could donate so that Matthew can get the medical attention, supplies, medications, and medical scans his brain desperately needs at this crucial recovery period. All donations will be going directly to Matthew’s aunt and uncle who will be his caregivers for the time being and who will be getting him to his medical appointments. We ask for continued prayers and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
