- Matthew Douglas, my handsome, smart, funny husband, is not doing well. I am reaching out to family and friends. For those who don't know, four years ago he was hospitalized and basically sentenced to maybe ten years of life left with a bad heart and lungs. It has only been four years, and he is back in the hospital. He has had multiple strokes on both sides of his brain. Doctors are telling us to just enjoy the time we have with him. His spleen was leaking into his stomach, and he is too weak for surgery. It has been a very difficult time for him. He is 41, and his time has been cut short. When the hospital asked me to decide whether to resuscitate him or not, things became very real. You start to think about what we could have done differently. And to make things worse, my job wasn't very supportive of our situation and let me go. If the doctors can get his physical complications under control Matthew has to learn how to walk, use the facilities, all the things that we take for granted everyday. He has to relearn. I am asking for prayers and some financial assistance for rehab and other financial burdens through this devastating time.
