On October 9th, Matthew was walking down a country road near his home, when he became the victim of a hit and run. Police determined he was thrown into the ditch and crawled back to the road where he was discovered sometime later by a passerby.  He was taken by ambulance to a hospital an hour away from their home. He is currently in the ICU suffering from multiple injuries.  

Matthew has a broken clavicle, five broken ribs, and internal damage to his liver and kidney. One lung is punctured, has collapsed and has been traumatized. He is also suffering from pneumonia. The doctors anticipate he will remain in the ICU for 1 to 2 weeks due to his injuries.
