Support Matthew Campagna's Recovery Journey

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 7pm, my boyfriend, Matthew Campagna, was violently jumped, robbed, and stabbed in his right chest by three individuals (2 were minors) at a deli on Granny Road in Medford over the Facebook Marketplace sale of an iPhone 14 Pro worth approximately $400. After being jumped and robbed, as his adrenaline was rushing, he was unaware he was stabbed. He attempted to flee in his car from the perpetrators but soon realized he was being chased at every turn by them in their car. While on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, he became aware that he was stabbed as he was bleeding uncontrollably through 3 layers of clothes and having difficulty breathing. He met police officers at a nearby gas station where he opened his car door and immediately collapsed on the ground due to the loss of blood. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, police quickly located surveillance footage of the attack, which led them to find the suspects and bring them back to the scene. Matthew identified all three attackers, yet shockingly, the two minors were simply released to their parents with GPS monitors and "conditions."
At the hospital, he was rushed into Interventional Radiology where he would spend the better part of 2 hours in emergency surgery to repair his injured internal thoracic artery, a major source of blood supply to the chest, and a chest tube/drain was inserted into the space between his lungs and chest wall in order to drain the large amount of blood pooling inside. During the surgery alone, 1 liter of blood was removed. As of Saturday, March 29, over 6 liters have been
drained and counting. If the drain does not successfully remove all of the blood, he will require an additional surgery to do so.
It is unbelievably difficult to witness the love of my love fighting for his life, struggling to breathe, and being in such an unimaginable amount of pain and agony for days and days on end, especially when he is such a hardworking, resilient and able-bodied man. To help with the
excruciating pain, he received an epidural which is affixed into his spine to block the pain receptors. In the meantime, these kids are roaming free while Matthew is confined to a hospital
bed being poked, prodded and filled with pain medication, with IVs, tubes and wires coming from all parts of his body.
Matthew’s life is turned completely upside down by this traumatic, senseless act of violence. He is affected not only physically, but financially and emotionally as well. Being a self-employed car
transporter, which requires manual labor and many hours of driving, he is unable to work or make income for the foreseeable future. He does not have health insurance and we have no idea what kind of bills we are going to be facing when this is over. I am making this Go Fund Me
on his behalf to help him make a full recovery and not rush back into working because of financial worries, but also to bring awareness to the dangers of Facebook Marketplace sales/exchanges.
Your donation will help with:
  • Medical expenses (emergency surgery, hospital stay, future procedures)
  • Lost income due to his inability to work
  • Legal fees to seek justice against his attackers
  • Ongoing rehabilitation and recovery support
Any donation, big or small, would mean the world to us. Please share with your family and
friends to raise awareness about the dangers of online sales and the failures of the justice
system to hold violent offenders accountable.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
