Hi everyone,
My name is Matt, whom some of you know as Mindful Matt, and I am an un-ordained Buddhist meditation teacher here in Perth and a father of two teenage boys.
I have been suffering from a grade two spondylolisthesis of the L4-L5 vertebrae, making life extremely painful and challenging. Everyday activities like getting out of bed, standing up and walking for more than a few minutes, and bending and sitting in a computer chair are just some of the day-to-day things that cause me immense amounts of pain.
As a result, I am unable to provide for myself, nor am I able to receive any government support due to the way the health system and other government departments view my condition and situation.

The above-linked fundraiser was created by my good friend Claire with the advice and blessing of my teacher Ajahn Brahm, who recorded a short message for everyone to confirm I am in genuine need of help. You can hear the character reference here:
As Claire has done so much for me, I am creating this new fundraiser myself so that she is no longer burdened with helping me for upcoming support I need. I cannot ask her to do more than she already has, nor do I feel comfortable asking someone else to create a fundraiser for me.
To everyone who donated to Claire's fundraiser, please allow me to say thank you with all my heart. Your kindness and generosity went a long way and helped me so much on this difficult journey.
The goal of this fundraiser is to provide financial support for when the private health cover is due in November, it can be paid. This will allow me to see someone in the private system for my spinal damage and also for some other urgent medical concerns that need attention.
The funds will also help to pay for daily living costs, so I can continue to have a roof over my head and food to eat etc.
Please know that this fundraiser is a genuine call for support. I am not someone who likes to promote myself or ask for help, but I have no other choice. I have exhausted all other options, including those that many people have kindly offered me.
