Support Matt Wheeler's Battle Against Cancer

My name is Séamus C, and I am raising funds for our brother, prior teammate, and friend Matthew “Wheels” Wheeler. Matt served as a United States Navy EOD Technician from 2005-2020, supporting the 75th Ranger Regiment, SEAL

TEAM 10, SEAL TEAM 8, and other US Special Operations Units conducting five combat deployments to the Middle East and receiving two Bronze Stars with Valor amongst other prestigious awards.

Approximately 1.5-2 years ago, Matt was feeling symptoms of fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. At first, the medical diagnosis was deemed due to scarring from sustained blast exposure while serving down range as a Navy EOD technician. Multiple breathing treatments did not fix or aid in identifying the root cause.

When symptoms did not reside, a visit to the ER led to a blood draw identifying an extremely high white blood cell count. Further investigation identified a cancer known as adenocarcinoma in the lymph nodes separating Matt’s lungs.

Matt has completed three rounds of treatment and has only seen a 5% reduction in the cancerous cells. This has resulted in him needing continued treatment, starting with a transfusion. Treatment can take anywhere from 6-12 months and can be overwhelmingly exhausting. Matt is a father of three: Jacob, -16, Bayleigh, and Tyler, -8. Recovery from

these treatments are arduous and only allow Matt to work 1-2 days at a time.

Battling and recovering from cancer can be incredibly stressful while also trying to raise and provide for a family - I’m reaching out to the greater community and asking to lend a hand in donating and sharing this fundraiser for Matt to help cover expenses and bills during this time as he has sacrificed so much while serving his nation.
