On November 3, 2025 Matt Blakey was transferred to Amarillo, where he suffered from sepsis and severe blood circulation issues in his legs and feet due to complications from a previous back surgery. Surgeons were able to restore circulation to his legs after a lengthy operation, but the condition of his feet, especially his toes, remains uncertain. Matt has used up his health benefits because of extended medical leave and now faces a long recovery with physical rehabilitation and no ability to work.

Matt has been working at United in the deli for almost 2 years, he has been off work since August due to back surgery then complications happened during healing which lead him to where he is now.
