My husband, Matt Battiato, has always been the kind of person who gives back to our community. He’s volunteered his time building the concession stand at the little league park, constructing dugouts for the high school, installing plaques for the Corning Fire Department, and even laying headstones at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Now, we find ourselves in a position where we need to ask for help.
On February 22, 2025, Matt suffered a stroke, and our lives changed overnight. His platelets dropped dangerously low, and after months of appointments, blood work, and travel to specialists, he was diagnosed with Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) with Granulomatous-Lymphocytic Interstitial Lung Disease by Mayo Clinic-Arizona. The journey has included countless tests, biopsies, and hospital stays, with many treatments and travel expenses not covered by insurance. Now, Matt needs to travel to Mayo Clinic for a kidney biopsy and specialized infusion, which adds even more urgency and expense to his medical journey. Matt is self-employed, so when he can’t work, there’s no unemployment or disability to fall back on. We had to put our beloved home up for sale to try to keep up with the mounting bills.
Despite all of this, Matt remains hopeful and determined. We’re doing everything we can, but we can’t do it alone. Funds raised will help cover travel to Mayo Clinic and other medical appointments, including the kidney biopsy and specialized infusion, treatments not covered by insurance, and essential living expenses while Matt focuses on his health. We know times are tough for everyone, any support you can offer would mean the world to us. Thank you for reading our story and for considering a donation to help Matt on his journey.
