Support Mateo's Fight Against Leukemia

Donation protected

On 2/12/25 Mateo's parents Lauren and Estoban came to Boston with plans of the children’s museum and birthday cake with family to celebrate Mateo’s 2nd birthday. Instead, they noticed that Mateo had a fever and a petechial rash all around his neck and chest and was just generally tired and ill-looking. His parents were so worried he had meningitis since he’s been off and on sick for weeks and the rash did not pass the glass test. He was brought to Boston Children’s emergency room.

A few hours later he family met a wonderful child life specialist who brought him birthday balloons and a gift to unwrap and she began explaining the services her job provides for patients and we began to suspect something was off. Shortly after her arrival to Mateo’s room a team of doctors came in and asked the parents to leave Mateo with the child life specialist while they went to a quiet room to discuss his results.

Once in the room Lauren and Estoban sat down while his doctor began explaining what the tests they were testing for and the medical significance behind each result. His doctors explained that the overall conclusion of the results is that Mateo has B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Today Mateo was put under general anesthesia to receive a PIC line, a lumbar puncture, a bone marrow biopsy and a dose of chemo injected into his spine. This is just the very start of his treatment journey.

According to the doctors the treatments available are amazing and the success rate for Mateo’s condition is very high. The process and treatment will be long, the plan is estimated to be 25 months with at least the next month or so being inpatient in Boston while he receives his first round of treatment(s).

Mateo is so strong, happy and loving. We are trying to raise donations for medical expenses during his treatments and help with the cost of monthly living expenses while his parents remain at the hospital out of work to care for Mateo. PLEASE CONSIDER donating so this special little boy may have his family by his side during these next few months the for multiple chemotherapy treatments.
