I had gotten admitted to the hospital on January 2nd, and after several days of fetal monitoring, Christian and I made the decision that it was best to meet our baby. January 13th was a worrisome and joyous day for us both. With his decreased fetal heart rate, we were unsure of the outcome of our choice but at 8:43pm, we happily welcomed Mateo Rivillas Flores into the world. The following days after his birth, concerns regarding his health increased. We knew that the journey ahead would be a long one since he was born prematurely, but Christian and I maintained hopeful, knowing in our hearts that Mateo would one day come home. On March 6, Christian and I received news that Mateo would not live much longer. We had spent every day by his side, but the following days made every memory much more special. A day before his 2 months, Mateo passed from his incurable liver disease. March 12th was our last day with our baby Mateo. We spent our last moments curled up closely with Mateo in our arms between us, giving him all our love once more.

Christian and I wish to give Mateo a beautiful memorial. As we continue to navigate this difficult time, we appreciate all the love we have received. We want to thank all of our friends and family who have guided and supported us.
