Mateo Pasqual Francisco is a devoted husband and father of five young children. Originally from Guatemala, Mateo is legally in the United States and has a Social Security number. He is known for being a very hard worker and an honest person, always striving to provide for his family and support his community.

On December 12, Mateo was unexpectedly detained by ICE and is now being held at the Otay Mesa Detention Center. His sudden detention has left his family without their sole source of income, creating an urgent and overwhelming situation for his wife and children.

Mateo’s wife is doing her best to care for their children, including a newborn, while cleaning a few homes each week to bring in what little she can. Despite her efforts, the family is struggling to cover basic living expenses and faces mounting legal costs as they work to bring Mateo home. The uncertainty and stress have been incredibly difficult for everyone, especially the children, who miss their father dearly.
