This week, our family received the heartbreaking news that my niece, 3.5 year old Mataya — a sweet, bright, joyful little girl — has been diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a form of childhood eye cancer. As you can imagine, this has come as an overwhelming shock to all of us, especially her parents, my brother Rylan and sister-in-law Kim, who are also the parents of daughters Amber (5.5 years old) and Sadie (8 months old).
Mataya (Taya) will soon begin urgent treatment in Toronto, Ontario, where she will need ongoing care and regular appointments over the coming year — and possibly longer. We trust God has her and her entire family in His hands, but also know the road ahead will be long, challenging, and emotionally draining.
In the midst of this, we are rallying around Taya and her family — and asking for your support. We are hoping to relieve them of some of the financial burden caused by the numerous trips/stays in Toronto (travelling from their home city of Lethbridge, Alberta), the cost of living expenses while away, as well as loss of income over the coming year.
Taya’s parents, Rylan and Kim, are truly two of the most humble, giving, and selfless people I know. Their love for Jesus, their family and others shines through in every aspect of how they live their lives. Every dollar raised will help ensure their family can focus on what matters most — Taya’s health and healing.
Your donation will go directly toward:
• Travel and accommodation for treatment appointments
• Basic living expenses during extended stays away from home
• Lost income while taking time off for her treatment
No contribution is too small — even sharing this page means the world!
We believe in the power of prayer and ask you to join us in lifting her and her family up during this journey. You can specifically be praying for total & complete healing of Taya's eye.
“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NLT
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support, love, and kindness,
Kailyn Wong (Greeno) and the entire Greeno and Silcox family
