Mason Fortenberry and the Fortenberry family have been part of Burke County for many years, always giving back to the community. Now Mason needs that same community behind him. Mason is a junior at EBHS, works part time at Village Inn Pizza, and is known as a friend to all. He loves spending time with friends and family, and he especially loves history, with a special interest in American history and the Civil War.
Mason was born in 2010 with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and has already undergone three open heart surgeries to rebuild the left side of his heart. He has done exceptionally well and has continued to thrive through so much.
On October 6, Mason was involved in a golf cart accident that caused head trauma and a brain injury. He was airlifted to Levine Children’s Hospital, where he underwent emergency neurosurgery and is currently being cared for in the pediatric ICU. His recovery will be a long journey, and his parents need to spend extended time at his bedside as he heals.
Donations will help cover medical expenses, lost wages, and recovery costs during the days and weeks ahead. Most of all, this support will help ease some of the financial pressure on the Fortenberry family so they can focus on Mason and his recovery.
Any donation, share, or prayer would be deeply appreciated. Thank you for supporting Mason and the Fortenberry family during this incredibly difficult time.
