Hello! My name is Mary Boyett, and I'm fundraising for my study abroad trip to Cortona, Italy this summer. The program is from June 11th to August 8th, and along with taking the art courses in a culturally rich country, we will also visit other important cities including Siena, Florence, Venice, and their artistic sites. I am excited for my classes, which consist of painting, the psychology of art, and Renaissance art history.

This trip means so much to me as a first-generation college student and the first in my family to travel abroad. Italy is especially an interest of mine which compelled me to take three semesters of the Italian language at UGA, where I continued to fall in love with the culture.

I strongly believe that seeing other parts of the world and being exposed to different ways of life is in itself an educational experience. The opportunity to study and immerse myself in courses led by our renowned art professors in Cortona, Italy would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience I wouldn't forget.

In terms of funding, I am grateful to have received some scholarships, but I'm still in need of money for remaining program costs as well as spending money for food and necessities while I’m abroad.
