Mary, my aunt, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024. This news shattered our family’s hearts. She bravely started chemotherapy, but the treatments quickly took a toll on her body. On December 20, 2024, Mary’s daughter, Lexia, informed the family that Mary had been admitted to the hospital. In January 2025, Mary underwent surgery to have one of her breasts removed. Despite her strength and determination, on October 5, 2025, we learned that Mary’s cancer had spread to her lungs and kidneys, and she was also suffering from fluid in her lungs. This was devastating news for all of us, but Mary continued her treatment as planned, never losing hope.
On December 29, 2025, Mary went for her treatment, but the medical team couldn’t get a reading on her vitals because her hands were too cold. The doctor advised Lexia to take her to the hospital, where they discovered she was low on sodium and magnesium. Mary spent two days in the hospital, and since then, she has been experiencing muscle weakness, slurred speech, and difficulty walking. On January 5, 2026, during a follow-up, the doctor told us that Mary’s symptoms were likely due to mini strokes. We were given the heartbreaking news that there was nothing more they could do except send her home with hospice care to keep her comfortable.
This has been an incredibly difficult journey for Mary, Lexia, and our entire family. Mary had no income due to her illness, and Lexia has been unable to work while caring for her mother and children. I am reaching out to ask for prayers and donations to help us lay Mary to rest peacefully with her mother, Rose, and to support Lexia during this unimaginable time. Your kindness and support mean the world to us.
