Support Mary's Brain Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Mary was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, Feb, 19. A CT scan revealed a rare mass on her brain that is causing Hydrocephalus, or the excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid. This buildup of fluid causes the ventricles to enlarge and puts pressure on the brain tissue causing debilitating headaches, dizziness, and some confusion. She will be having surgery on Wednesday, Feb. 26 to remove the tumor and will be in post-op in the hospital for 2-3 days. We are unsure what recovery will look like outside of the hospital, but as of now are expecting her to have a limited ability to work for 4-6 weeks.
We’re raising funds to help support Mary as she undergoes and recovers from surgery. Any funds raised will go towards medical bills, insurance premiums, and day-to-day expenses (such as meals, rent, etc.) needed as a result of being unable to work in the short term.
Many of you are familiar with Mary’s story, but for those of you who aren’t, she has had a history of chronic headaches and migraines for 15 years and as a result has had various diagnoses and explored various paths without any resolution.
As one can imagine, it's been a challenging journey for Mary, and one that has had more questions than answers. We are very grateful to her team of doctors and nurses at UCSD Jacobs Medical Center for their dedication and attentiveness at this stage, and are hopeful and praying this surgery is a step to more answers.
We want to express how grateful we are to all of Mary’s and our friends and family for reaching out, asking how you can help and being there for Mary throughout all of this.
