Support Marybeth's Brain Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Final update: Marybeth passed on May 6th around 9:00 pm after spending 6 days in Hospice in the Blacksburg Lewis Gale hospital. She had excellent care. She felt no pain and we are all happy she was surrounded by the people she loves for the past 2 weeks. Thank you to everyone for the donations. Her memorial service will be at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Roanoke VA on June 14th at 3 pm EST/recorded for others to watch.
Update: The night of April 30th we had to take Marybeth to the ER at Lewis Gale in Blacksburg, Va. As of the morning of May 1st she has been in a deep sleep from morphine and steroids. Visitors are encouraged but check with front desk first. She is not responsive verbally but likes hearing stories and knowing she is surrounded by love. We do not have much more information, but will be stationed here for the time being. The prognosis is not good. On April 30th one of her beloved dogs, Tauriel, had to be put down (by our dear friend Jake who is dog sitting for them) due to coughing up excessive blood and fluid buildup, likely from cancer. Todd and mb did not get to say goodbye. These events are unfathomable and unfair to such a gentle and selfless creature.
Marybeth was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, Butterfly Glioblastoma (a very rare and aggressive form), on April 18th, and given ~ 3 months to live. She is a life long Scout, Unitarian Universalist, mother (both biologically and to any one in need of a loving mom), wonderful wife, dedicated veterinarian, singer, a safe space, and outdoor enthusiast (especially water activities). She brings laughter, love, and selflessness everywhere she goes. I don't know a single person that has met my mom and not instantly felt joy and acceptance. These funds will be used for medications, travel involved for herself/family, help with general expenses needed currently and after the fact.
